Shielding Services
Radiation shielding is primarily designed to ensure that individuals, both workers and members of the public, are not exposed to radiation at levels greater than the regualtory limit. Additionally, facilities are required to institute an ALARA program (As Low As Reasonably Acheivable). Often shielding design is incorporated into the ALARA program to lessen the need for administrative controls within a faciltiy. Unfortunately, not all radiation physicists who provide shielding services understand the principles of shielding for different modalities. One of the biggest mistakes is to make over-conservative assumptions which end up costing you a lot of extra money and do little to comply with the radiation dose limits or your ALARA program. Don't let this happen to you.
If you have the need for radiation shielding, whether to meet dose limits or to comply with your ALARA program, let the physicists at RSCS, LLC provide the shielding recommendations. Not only do we base our recommendations on the most recent guidance from organizations such as the National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurements, but we also have experience is providing shielding recommendations in uses of radiation ranging from Nuclear Medicine Hot Labs and PET Imaging Suites to Indutrial Application of radioactive materials and radiation generating machines (e.g. x-ray machines, accelerators, etc). We will work with you so that you understand the limits and requirements of radiation shielding. We will help you understand the limits and benefits of different shielding configurations--you will not simply receive a "one size fits all" recommendation.
